Job Overview

As a Product Design Engineer at HRU Technical Resources, you will play a crucial role in developing and modifying models, layouts, drawings, and bills of material for components, assemblies, and systems for both new and existing products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop mechanical/electrical/electronic designs for new product parts, subassemblies, assemblies, or system configurations using CAD software.
  • Compile Bills of Materials (BOM) and assist in the assembly of prototypes.
  • Draw multiple views, depicting the relationship of components and parts, identifying dimensions, angles, curvatures, tolerances, and materials.
  • Prepare bills of material and specifications, create required documentation, and process Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).
  • Ensure adherence to designated quality and cost parameters while using CAD systems.
  • Assist in building/acquiring prototypes to ensure the quality of drawings and functionality of equipment.
  • Perform calculations such as strength of materials, weights, forces, and stresses using charts and tables.
  • Analyze the effects of proposed changes for proper fit and/or interference problems, recommending possible solutions or alternate construction as necessary.
  • Modify drawings as required and confer with engineers to resolve issues.
  • Follow Company policies and procedures, adhering to quality and safety standards.
  • Maintain CAD equipment by performing preventive maintenance and calling for repairs as needed.
  • Comply with engineering playbook and best practice procedures.
  • Work effectively with team members, particularly assigned engineers, and continuously improve skills and knowledge.
  • Support, communicate, reinforce, and defend the mission, values, and culture of the organization.
  • Participate in team efforts and embrace company initiatives.
  • Support other projects and perform additional duties as assigned.

  • Able to work independently and in teams.
  • Competent technical capability.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to communicate effectively with management and personnel at all levels.
  • Must be able to speak, read, and understand English.
  • High attention to detail with a quality-oriented mindset.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with customers, vendors, employees, and managers at all levels.
  • Proficient in standard business software packages (e.g., Microsoft Office).

Work Environment:

  • Work is performed in a typical office environment with adequate heating/cooling control.
  • Noise level is moderate due to computer equipment and environmental control systems.
  • Routine use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.
  • Access to operations and manufacturing areas may involve exposure to loud noises, dust, fumes, oils, and temperature fluctuations.

Physical Demands:

  • Work is performed in accordance with safety, workmanship, and good housekeeping specifications.
  • The role alternates between sitting and standing/walking for long periods.
  • This position occasionally requires lifting office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.

Training:

  • New employee safety orientation and training on special tools or software required for job performance.
