Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our team at Duke Health Integrated Practice. As a key member of our Cardiology department, you will play a vital role in coordinating and participating in various technical procedures involving radioactive materials and measurement instrumentation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and participate in in vivo and in vitro studies, operating radiation detection and measurement instrumentation, including stationary imaging devices and scintillation gamma apparatus.
  • Calibrate and prepare radiopharmaceutical materials for administration to patients, formulate radiopharmaceutical materials from pre-prepared kits, and review calibration data to detect trends indicating instrument malfunction.
  • Evaluate recorded images for technical quality, process computerized image data, including function curves and reconstructed SPECT images, and explain procedures to patients.
  • Assume care for physical and psychological needs of patients of all ages during examinations, initiate life support measures if necessary, and perform IV, EKG prep, and tracing.
Quality Control and Maintenance
  • Maintain daily, weekly, quarterly, and annual quality control on nuclear imaging equipment and hot lab equipment.
  • Monitor the Nuclear Medicine Department for possible contamination using a portable survey meter.
  • Ensure compliance with ICANL accreditation standards, NC Department of Radiation Protection, and JACHO standards.
Collaboration and Training
  • Assist in the development and evaluation of new procedures and techniques to meet specific protocol needs.
  • Consult with physicians concerning the application of nuclear medicine procedures and techniques.
  • Provide instruction and technical guidance in training new employees and assist with the education and training of new physicians.
Requirements
  • Requires successful completion of an AMA-approved Nuclear Medicine Technology training program.
  • Minimum of two years of experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist, with experience in Cardiology.
Work Schedule

The schedule for this position is day shifts, Monday-Friday, with no weekends or holidays.
