Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist to join our team at MLK Community Healthcare. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service to patients, managing the front office, and ensuring a smooth and efficient patient experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greets patients and visitors, ensuring a warm and welcoming environment.
  • Assists patients with signing in and obtaining necessary information for registration.
  • Registers patients, obtains signatures, and enters information into the EMR system with accuracy.
  • Answers front desk telephone, resolves caller inquiries, and routes calls to the correct department.
  • Schedules patients, reschedules appointments, and calls patients from the ED list for post-discharge.
  • Performs other clerical duties, such as filing, photocopying, and maintaining patient records.
  • Optimizes patient satisfaction, provider time, and treatment room utilization.
  • Notifies providers of patient arrival, reviews service delivery, and reminds providers of service delays.
  • Comforts patients by anticipating anxieties, answering questions, and maintaining the reception area.
  • Maintains patient accounts by obtaining, recording, and updating personal and financial information.
  • Maintains front office inventory and equipment by checking stock, anticipating needed supplies, and scheduling equipment service and repairs.
  • Protects patients' rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal and financial information.

Requirements

  • High School graduate or GED.
  • At least one year of experience in a medical front office setting or similar.
  • At least one year of experience with direct handling of insurance eligibility/verification.
  • Medical Assistant front office experience preferred.
  • Ability to maintain a professional and patient care-oriented attitude, multitask, and read and speak Spanish.
