Job Description

The primary purpose of this role is to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in leading a safe, self-directed life and participating fully in their communities.

This position involves assisting individuals with mild to severe intellectual disabilities in various aspects of their lives, including daily living activities, community inclusion, and social interactions.

The ideal candidate will possess compassion, creativity, and integrity, with skills that include:

  • Providing quality care and support to individuals in their homes
  • Ensuring supports and services are person-centered
  • Preparing and serving meals for individuals
  • Promoting physical health and emotional well-being
  • Managing finances responsibly and maintaining confidentiality
  • Transporting individuals to appointments and activities
  • Supporting individuals in forming and maintaining relationships
  • Documenting daily reports electronically

Capitol City Residential Healthcare is seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Direct Support Professional.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting individuals with daily living activities
  • Supporting individuals in community-based activities
  • Providing companionship and emotional support
  • Reporting changes in an individual's health or status
  • Feeding and maintaining patient health equipment
  • Responding to emergency situations
  • Administering medication (if certified)
  • Transporting individuals to appointments and activities

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
  • Availability to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays
