Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Sonography Specialist to join our team at Ascension Saint Agnes in Baltimore, Maryland. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging department, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our hospital.

Salary and Benefits

The estimated salary for this position is $40,000 - $60,000 per year, depending on experience. Job Description

As a Medical Sonography Specialist, your primary responsibility will be to perform diagnostic procedures using ultrasound waves to examine tissue and body structure. You will work closely with patients, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to provide quality images for interpretation.

Your duties will include setting up and adjusting equipment, manually maneuvering transducers, implementing safety standards, and performing routine and complex studies. You will also be responsible for recognizing significant structures, artifacts, pathology, and equipment limitations, ensuring equipment functionality, reporting potential problems, and locking/tagging out equipment when necessary.

In addition, you will assist in maintaining a clean and orderly department, including procedure rooms, storage areas, dressing rooms, film storage areas, and other relevant spaces. Your commitment to compliance with regulatory agencies will be essential in ensuring the highest level of patient care and safety.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • BLS Provider certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross within 1 month of hire date
  • Radiologic Technologist specializing in Sonography credentialed from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or Medical Sonographer credentialed from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)
  • State Radiology Technologist licensure issued by the Maryland Board of Physicians (if holding ARRT certification)
  • Certification from Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) accepted
  • High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience or Associate's degree/Technical degree or 4 years of applicable cumulative job-specific experience
