Acupuncturist PRN Specialist

As an Acupuncturist PRN Specialist at Intermountain Health, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care through the practice of acupuncture and oriental medicine. This position requires a Master's degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, current licensure to practice in the State of Utah, and certification from the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine.
Key Responsibilities:
Verify medical records, including physician's orders for integrated medicine, and review medical files for contraindications/precautions for treatment.
Collect medical history and general health and lifestyle information from patients.
Analyze physician findings and medical history to make diagnoses according to Oriental Medicine.
Work with each patient to develop a treatment plan and strategy based on their diagnoses and individual needs.
Explain procedures and discuss individual treatment with patients.
Inspect areas to be treated, looking for edema, blisters, and/or rash, and report issues to physicians/nurses before beginning treatment.
Provide prescribed treatments as determined by patient treatment plans.
Observe and assess patients for any unexpected or undesirable physical/emotional reactions, suspending treatment and providing appropriate intervention as needed.
Maintain detailed and complete records, healthcare plans, and prognoses.
Educate patients on topics such as ergonomics, stretching, exercise, nutrition, the healing process, breathing, and relaxation techniques.
Evaluate treatment outcomes and make further treatment recommendations as necessary to promote, restore, or maintain health.
Requirements:
Master's degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine.
Current licensure to practice Acupuncture in the State of Utah.
Certification from the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine.
Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Basic computer skills.
Ability to discuss the scientific basis and commonly used techniques for acupuncture and complementary medical therapies.
Traditional Chinese or Japanese Medicine pediatric training.
Preferred Qualifications:
3 years of professional practice in the field of Acupuncture or Integrative Medicine.
Orthopedic training in acupuncture.
