As a Senior Safety Manager and Trainer at Harrison Western, you will be responsible for driving project safety and culture, developing and maintaining HWSS's training program, ensuring that all safety policies, procedures, and regulations are followed diligently, and managing and mentoring Shift Safety and other personnel. Your role will be crucial in driving a safe and productive work environment and promoting our company's strong safety culture across the project.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive overall project safety and culture
  • Manage overall safety program and shift safety personnel
  • Review, audit, and modify (as needed) safety program, inspections, paperwork, and personnel activities
  • Enforce and monitor adherence to all safety policies, procedures, activity work plans, job hazard analyses, and safety requirements set by state, local, and federal organizations, including DOE, OSHA, and MSHA
  • Manage and supervise training for new hires and lead safety portions of changeover meetings
  • Manage delivery of daily toolbox talks during morning meetings and disseminate weekly safety topics
  • Perform and manage inspections to identify potential hazards and implement corrective measures
  • Lead investigations into near misses, accidents, and injuries and prepare reports for internal and external use
  • Manage personnel who manage safety signage, information, and barriers across work areas
  • Manage coordination with job-site specific health clinics, accident interfaces, and safety drills
  • Compile incident reports and support monthly operational meetings
  • Manage personnel who manage safety supplies and equipment, including inventory control, distribution, and maintenance
  • Schedule and ensure timely certifications for safety equipment and training seminars
  • Represent the organization in community or industry safety groups and programs
  • Maintain and organize safety files, records, forms, reports, and manuals
Qualifications
  • A minimum of 5-10 years of experience in a safety-related role in construction and/or mining, MSHA experience is essential, OSHA experience also a plus
  • Experience managing other safety personnel
  • Experience instituting and driving safety culture through change management
  • Experience and training in hazard analysis and Job Hazard Analysis documentation
  • Must be able to be on site at all times with no other duties than safety oversight
  • MSHA instructor qualification preferred but not required
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with crews and management
  • In-depth knowledge of applicable safety rules and regulations
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in occupational safety and health, Construction Health and Safety Technician, or equivalent education and/or experience required
  • OSHA 30 Hour Construction Certification
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred
  • Associate Safety Professional preferred
