Job Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and creative Creative Events Specialist to join our team at Michaels in Philadelphia, PA.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who loves events, customer service, and working in a fast-paced retail environment. As a Creative Events Specialist, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and facilitating events such as kids' birthday parties, craft classes, and other activities that create a fun and engaging experience for our guests.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and coordinate multiple events simultaneously, including children's birthday parties and other craft classes or events.
  • Engage with clients of all ages by creating a welcoming and creative environment.
  • Demonstrate and instruct party participants in various craft projects, perform face painting, and other activities.
  • Implement party add-ons such as goody bags, balloons, and other amenities to exceed client expectations.
  • Communicate events with clients and store team members effectively.
  • Complete administrative tasks, such as answering emails and making phone calls, as needed.
  • Adjust plans and events based on client feedback and needs.
  • Create backup or emergency plans as necessary.
  • Ensure client satisfaction for scheduled events.
  • Maintain company cleanliness and safety standards by setting up, breaking down, and cleaning before and after each event.

Customer Experience

You will also provide exceptional customer service by helping customers shop, locating products, and providing solutions. Additionally, you will engage customers on benefits of Rewards programs and Private Label Credit Cards, complete enrollments, and educate customers on Voice of Customer (VOC) surveys.

Requirements

  • Ability to handle job stress and interact effectively with others, including guests of all ages and coworkers.
  • Excellent people skills.
  • Experience working with children and children's events.
  • Good communication skills, including written, verbal, and nonverbal communication, as well as listening skills.
  • Organizational skills, interpersonal skills, and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Retail and/or customer service experience required.

Working Conditions

This role requires the ability to remain standing for long periods, move throughout the store, bend, lift, carry, reach, and stretch. You may also need to access high shelves using a ladder or similar equipment and work in a public retail store setting with varying temperatures. Some stock rooms may not be climate-controlled, and you may be assigned to retrieve shopping carts or unload trucks outdoors.

Estimated Salary Range: $45,000 - $60,000 per year, depending on experience.
