At Thomson Reuters, we're pushing the boundaries of applied research in information retrieval and natural language processing. We're seeking a Research and Development Engineer with expertise in Machine Learning to join our team.

About the Role:

In this role, you will be responsible for designing and delivering AI solutions that enhance our products. Your work will ensure that AI technologies are effectively aligned with business objectives, driving product innovation and value.

  • Design and Develop AI Solutions: You will work on building, testing, and delivering high-quality solutions using state-of-the-art information retrieval, natural language processing, and generative AI techniques.
  • Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: You will learn from and partner with colleagues across the globe, working together to identify compelling solutions at the intersection of user need and technical feasibility.
  • Innovate and Experiment: You will have the opportunity to try new approaches and learn new technologies, contributing ideas and solving real-world challenges.
  • Evaluate New Models and Techniques: You will evaluate both new models and research techniques that could be used by our AI development teams.

About You:

You are a fit for this position if your background includes:

  • A current PhD student or recent Master's graduate in a relevant ML discipline.
  • Practical experience building NLP/IR/ML systems, from ideation to implementation.
  • Software engineering skills for model prototyping.
  • Proficiency in implementing solutions using Python, DL frameworks, and relevant tools.
  • Experience in contributing to a shared codebase.
  • Familiarity with workflows for remote development on AWS, Azure, or similar.
  • Data-driven problem-solving and decision-making mindset.
  • Curious and innovative disposition capable of proposing outside-the-box solutions.
  • Comfortable communicating AI concepts to audiences with diverse technical backgrounds.

Salary Range: $80,000 - $110,000 per year

Location: This position is based in our office location, but we also offer flexible remote work options.
