Asbestos Remediation Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Asbestos Remediation Specialist to join our team at Snyder Environmental. In this critical role, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently removing asbestos from various structures, ensuring the health and safety of yourself and others.

About the Job

This is a challenging position that requires attention to detail, physical stamina, and the ability to work in extreme environments. You will be working with hazardous materials, including asbestos, lead-based paint, waste oil, fuel, transmission fluid, radioactive materials, or contaminated soil.

Key Responsibilities

• Removal of asbestos from ceilings, walls, beams, boilers, and other structures, adhering to hazardous waste handling guidelines and safe demolition techniques.
• Assembly and dismantling of scaffolding, temporary walkways, and mobile decontamination units.
• Positioning of portable air evacuation and filtration systems inside work areas.
• Cutting and scraping of asbestos from surfaces using specialized equipment.
• Packaging and transportation of asbestos-containing materials to designated disposal sites.
• Maintaining accurate records of work performed, materials used, and any incidents or accidents.
• Collaboration with foremen, supervisors, and managers to ensure compliance with company policies and regulations.

Physical Demands

This role requires regular standing, sitting, kneeling, twisting, bending, and the ability to push, pull, lift, and carry up to 20 pounds constantly and up to 50 pounds occasionally. You must also be able to work in extreme temperatures and humidity levels.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

You will be required to wear personal protective equipment, including half-face respirators, full-face respirators, steel-toed footwear, hard hats, safety vests, protective eyewear, gloves, and Tyvek suits.

Safety Sensitive

This position is considered safety-sensitive, requiring strict adherence to company safety protocols and regulatory guidelines.

Travel

Occasional travel may be required, typically up to 100% of the time.

Licenses/Certifications Required

You must possess an Asbestos Worker Initial Certification, Current Asbestos Worker Refresher, Current State Specific Asbestos Worker License, Current Valid Physician's Assessment, and Current Respirator Fit Test.

Preferred Education/Certifications

A High School Diploma or GED and OSHA 10 or higher certification are preferred but not required.

Estimated Salary Range

$60,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience and location.
