About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Project Engineer with expertise in highway and roadway design to join our skilled and dynamic team in Richmond, VA. As a Senior Project Engineer at RK&K, you will lead transportation projects for VDOT and other public and private sector customers. Your responsibilities will include mentoring younger engineers, providing task leadership, and utilizing industry-standard software such as MicroStation, InRoads, OpenRoad Designer, and Civil 3D.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Leadership: Lead and contribute to the design, analysis, and development of highway and roadway projects, ensuring compliance with relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Design Expertise: Utilize industry standard programs to create detailed highway design plans, alignments, profiles, cross-sections, and other required documentation.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop innovative and cost-effective solutions for complex transportation projects.
  • Quality Control: Perform quality control reviews of design documents to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project objectives.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field from an accredited institution.
  • A current Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in civil engineering or the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
  • A minimum of seven (7) years of experience in highway and roadway design, with a significant focus on DOT projects.
  • Proficiency in one or more of the following - MicroStation, InRoads, OpenRoad Designer, Civil 3D, and other relevant design software.

The estimated salary for this position is $120,000 - $150,000 per year, depending on experience.
