Pediatric Intensive Care Unit Nurse Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) nurse to join our team as a travel nurse in Des Moines, IA. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced RNs to provide high-quality care to critically ill pediatric patients.
Job SummaryThe successful candidate will have 1-2 years of recent acute care experience and possess excellent critical thinking and communication skills. As a PICU nurse, you will work collaboratively with physicians, specialists, and patients' families to deliver exceptional patient care.
PICU nurses at Travel Nurse Across America play a vital role in providing life-saving interventions to children and adolescents with a wide range of medical conditions, from common childhood diseases to complex and life-threatening illnesses.
Responsibilities- Monitor patients' vital signs and initiate corrective action when necessary.
- Follow continuous cardiac and respiratory monitor readings, such as EKG tracings, O2 stats, CVP/arterial line waveforms, if applicable, and report any observed changes.
- Perform various procedures, including changing dressings, inserting catheters, starting IVs, and adjusting specialized equipment used on patients, such as ventilators.
- Assist physicians during examinations, treatments, and procedures, which can include life-saving situations.
- Participate in the insertion or discontinuation of CV catheters, arterial lines, external ventricular drains, Foleys, epidural catheters, and endotracheal tubes.
PICU nurses must be able to stand and walk for extended periods, bend, lean, and stoop without difficulty, and easily lift 10-20 pounds of equipment. They may also be exposed to chemicals and infectious diseases.
RequirementsTo be considered for this position, applicants must hold a current BLS certification and have at least 2 years of recent acute care experience. Additional certifications may be required before beginning an assignment.
Estimated Salary: $120,000 - $150,000 per year-
