About the Position

This is a continuous filing exam. The Sacramento County Sheriff's Department is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented individual to fill the role of Sheriff's Records Officer I. As a member of our team, you will perform a wide range of specialized and technical law enforcement support duties, including office practices, recordkeeping, and public contact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform clerical, general recordkeeping, and/or accounting work
  • Provide public contact and interpret/clarify rules, regulations, policies, or procedures
  • Operate office equipment and specialized law enforcement computer systems
  • Maintain accurate records and perform data entry
  • Work in a detention facility and interact with inmates

Requirements

  • One year of paid, full-time work experience in a related field
  • Driver's License: Possession of a valid California driver's license, Class C or higher
  • Ability to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain a high level of accuracy

Working Conditions

  • Work in a detention facility and be in direct contact with inmates
  • Potential exposure to hazardous materials, including bodily fluids
  • Work in hot or cold conditions for extended periods of time

Background/Criminal History

The County may access criminal history information on candidates who have accepted a conditional offer of appointment for this class. The County shall not consider for employment any candidate who has been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor that relates to or impacts the candidate's ability to perform the job duties of this class unless it is determined that mitigating circumstances exist.

Probationary Period

The probationary period for this classification is six (6) months.
