About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Nurse Practitioner to join our team in the Department of Surgery at the University of California, Irvine. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, collaborating with physicians and other healthcare professionals, and contributing to the development of our surgical services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess health needs and develop comprehensive care plans for patients on the general surgery services and in the surgical intensive care unit.
  • Participate in inpatient sign-out and follow up with General Surgery teams, residents, and attending physicians.
  • Be involved in trauma resuscitations and perform surgical consultations on potential general surgery patients.
  • Coordinate care and organization of procedures, including scheduling operations, interventional procedures, and follow-up.
  • Triage phone calls and respond to patient inquiries.
  • Review critical labs, follow up on results with patients and medical staff, and obtain comprehensive medical histories.
  • Perform initial and periodic physical examinations and assessments, and explore patients' interpretation of health needs.
Requirements
  • Current, active, unrestricted California Registered Nurse license.
  • Successful completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program.
  • Current, active, unrestricted California Nurse Practitioner license.
  • Current, active, unrestricted Furnishing license and DEA registration.
  • Ability to obtain UCIMC Allied Health Professional Privileges prior to hire.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the program and UCI Health System.
  • Ability to exercise diplomacy and flexibility in interacting with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
