Job Summary:

Maintain proficiency in technical procedures and perform assigned tasks on a regular basis:

  • Start IVs, administer medications and intravenous solutions accurately and skillfully.
  • Conduct stress testing, including thallium and pharmacologic testing.
  • Hook up holter monitors and perform ECGs, pacemaker checks, and cardiac event recorders.
  • Provide telephone triage under the direction of RN and/or MD.
  • Teach patients and assist physicians and physician extenders in their daily routine.
  • Be aware of emergency equipment locations and follow emergency protocols as necessary.
  • Maintain sample medication supplies when required.
  • Participate in the Coumadin clinic according to established protocols.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Report blood work to patients per physician instructions.
  • Record concise, accurate, and complete information regarding patient history, medications, teaching, etc., as per policy.

Support and Assist Head Nurse:

Float to ensure adequate coverage as requested by the Nurse Manager.

Attend nursing staff meetings, sharing knowledge, information, and ideas among team members.

Assist in the orientation of new personnel when requested.

Ensure a safe and productive environment for patients and staff members:

Follow safety guidelines and policies of the practice and OSHA.

Inform the Nurse Manager of any areas for concern.

Perform other duties necessary to ensure the safe and effective operation of the practice.

Completion of Necessary Paperwork:

Complete forms at the Licensed Practical Nurse level of expertise.

Minimum Qualifications:

NYS licensed/registered LPN.

CPR certification through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior experience in an outpatient setting, preferably in a specialty area.

Work Days:

Monday - Friday, daytime hours.
