Role Overview

The State of Vermont seeks a detail-oriented Contracts & Grants Specialist I to develop, create, and monitor grants and procurement activities. This position requires a high level of organization and the ability to work with internal staff and external customers.

This role involves writing grants, MOAs, MOUs, RFPs, RFIs, and RFAs. The specialist will work directly with technical project managers and play a key role in providing financial assistance to municipalities, businesses, and individuals.

Responsibilities include managing multiple priorities, tracking grants and agreements throughout their terms, and working in a hybrid environment that supports remote work and core days.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement grants and procurement strategies
  • Write and manage grants, MOAs, MOUs, RFPs, RFIs, and RFAs
  • Work with technical project managers to provide financial assistance
  • Manage multiple priorities and track grants and agreements
  • Collaborate with internal staff and external customers
Requirements

A bachelor's degree in accounting, business management, financial auditing, grants administration, or a closely related field is required. Alternatively, three years or more of combined education and experience in a relevant field are acceptable.

Preferred qualifications include experience with continuous improvement processes, use of Excel, and familiarity with grant management systems.
