Job Description/Qualifications

This position description outlines the general nature and level of work performed by employees in this classification. Reports to: Rehabilitation Director and Occupational Therapist

General Purpose

As an Occupational Therapy Assistant, you will provide quality resident care to enable residents to achieve and maintain their maximum level of functional ability while maintaining a positive level of interaction with the facility and residents.

Qualifications

Graduate of an AOTA-accredited OTA school and eligible for licensure in your state of practice. Prior long-term care experience is preferred.

Essential Job Responsibilities

· Comply with ethical, regulatory, procedural, and professional standards and practice guidelines as defined by your state of licensure.

· Assist the OT in providing occupational therapy treatments to residents as determined by the Plan of Care as directed by the OT.

· Manage your caseload with your supervisor by scheduling treatment individually or in groups while maintaining efficiency expectations.

· Instruct residents, family, and caregivers in OT procedures to be continued upon discharge.

· Adhere to PPS guidelines and ensure all OT documentation/treatment conforms to documentation/billing policies and procedures.

· Work with the OT to provide oversight and direction to techs and assist in the supervision and education of affiliating students.

· Assist in ensuring the physical surroundings and equipment are sanitary, orderly, and free from conditions that may cause safety hazards.

Residents' Rights Functions

· Maintain resident confidentiality and privacy. Foster feelings of self-worth and respect by treating residents with kindness and understanding.

· Know and comply with Residents' Bill of Rights. Report all grievances and resident complaints to the administrator and/or Director of Nursing immediately.

· Report any incident involving rehab staff to the RVP immediately.

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift/move fifty (50) pounds. Ability to stand for extended periods. Fine motor skills. Visual acuity.

Other Job Functions

· Maintain your own professional competence as well as learn new creative trends in OT treatment through participation in continuing education, seminars, and training programs.

· Attend all mandatory in-services.
