Job Summary

The Fire Battalion Chief, Sacramento County Airport Fire, is responsible for supervising, assigning, reviewing, and participating in the work of staff responsible for controlling and extinguishing fires; rescuing persons endangered by aircraft crash and fire or structural fires; preventing fire by reducing or eliminating potential fire hazards; responding to and providing assistance for medical aid calls, vehicle accidents, and Hazmat incidents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and direct staff in firefighting and emergency response operations
  • Develop and implement strategies to prevent fires and ensure public safety
  • Coordinate with local emergency services and other agencies to respond to incidents
  • Conduct inspections and investigations to identify potential fire hazards and develop plans to mitigate them
  • Develop and maintain training programs to ensure staff are equipped to respond to emergencies

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Fire Science, Emergency Medical Services, or related field
  • 7 years of experience as a firefighter, with at least 3 years as a Captain or equivalent
  • Valid California driver's license and firefighter endorsement
  • EMT certification and Air Operations Area driver permit
  • Ability to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and deadlines
