Harmonizing Gospel Choir Director

We are seeking an accomplished Musical Director and Worship Leader to oversee our Harmonizing Grace Gospel choir and provide musical leadership for weekly Protestant worship services in Manning Chapel.
This role combines two key areas of responsibility: developing and preserving a premier collegiate gospel choir and planning and executing music for the Protestant service, which features periodic performances by the choir.
The successful candidate will collaborate with Tougaloo College to enrich our institutional exchange and shared resources. Responsibilities include recruiting, arranging, and leading vocal and instrumental music based on the needs of the Protestant community and the Harmonizing Grace vocal ensemble, open to Brown and RISD students without audition.
As a free-standing group, Harmonizing Grace collaborates regularly with the Protestant worshiping community, offers annual performances, and works closely with the Office of Institutional Equity and Inclusion (OIED) and the Brown Tougaloo Partnership.
This is a part-time position requiring approximately 15-18 hours per week for 9 months per year.
Key Qualifications- Bachelor of Arts in Music preferred
- Previous experience directing and performing in choirs and/or groups
- Three to five years conducting ensembles and/or directing choirs
- Able to work with students from diverse and non-traditional musical backgrounds
- Basic music theory and piano skills required
- Commitment to supporting a diverse and inclusive campus community
- Part-time position with approximately 15-18 hours per week
