At UT Health Science Center, we are seeking a highly skilled Pediatric Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) to join our team of healthcare professionals. As a Pediatric CRNA, you will play a vital role in providing professional nursing services by administering anesthesia primarily to pediatric surgery patients under the age of 18.

About the Job

You will work closely with the anesthesia team, including anesthesiology assistants, resident physicians, and other healthcare professionals to develop comprehensive care plans tailored to the specific needs of each pediatric patient. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring the safe and effective delivery of anesthesia to pediatric patients.

The ideal candidate will have current Texas Licensure as a Registered Nurse and APRN, as well as current American Association of Nurse Anesthetists certification (AANA). A minimum of 6 months of work experience in anesthetizing pediatric patients is desirable, but not required. We offer onboarding opportunities for the right candidate.

Responsibilities
  • Prepares and administers anesthetic agents to patients in order to desensitize them to permit the performance of medical or surgical procedures.
  • Performs pre-anesthesia evaluation of the patient in order to ascertain physiological and psychological factors which influence the selection of anesthetic agent and the formulation of the plan of anesthetic management.
  • Monitors the patient in the operating room in order to maintain the patient's homeostatic condition and to assure that unnecessary injuries are not inflicted on the patient.
  • Records anesthetic information on the anesthesia chart to provide a permanent record necessary for the care of the patient, to provide material for teaching, for study, and to establish a medical-legal record.
  • Provides clinical supervision or guidance of nurse anesthesia students, paramedical, and medical students in order to contribute to their clinical training.
Requirements
  • Current Texas Licensure as a Registered Nurse and APRN.
  • Current American Association of Nurse Anesthetists certification (AANA).
  • A minimum of 6 months of work experience in anesthetizing pediatric patients is desirable.
Compensation

We offer a competitive salary range of $170,000 - $230,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications. In addition to your salary, you will also receive a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
