About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled School Bus Mechanic to join our team in Chesterfield County, VA. As a Senior School Bus Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and reliability of our school bus fleet.
Job Summary
The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing complex mechanical issues with our diesel engine school buses. This includes but is not limited to, diesel engine, fuel, electrical/electronic, power train, suspension, air brakes, steering, heating/cooling, and exhaust systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair complex mechanical issues with diesel engine school buses
- Perform state safety inspections, including 45-day inspections
- Conduct road service calls, tests vehicles, and prepares and maintains records and reports concerning repairs of equipment
- Perform daily and monthly preventive maintenance and repair of diesel engine school buses to ensure compliance with state and federal safety guidelines and regulations
- Repair tasks include, but are not limited to, diesel engine, fuel, electrical/electronic, power train, suspension, air brakes, steering, heating/cooling, and exhaust systems
- Other duties include repair and replacement of school bus lighting systems, wheelchair lift equipment, tire service, and seat repairs
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree in automotive technology from an accredited college or equivalent combination of training and experience preferred
- Three to five years of experience in the maintenance, repair, and computerized diagnosis of medium-heavy truck faults at a journeyman technician rating
- Current Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications preferred
- Able to possess advanced working knowledge of fundamental operation of internal combustion engines
- Able to perform physically demanding work including, but not limited to, walking up and down stairs, standing for prolonged periods, squatting, stooping, bending, twisting, stretching, crawling, reaching overhead, and working in awkward positions without choice or variety

Work Environment
This position requires rotating on-call after hours (evenings and weekends) and occasional work in adverse weather conditions and/or extreme temperatures.
Salary Information
The estimated annual salary range for this position is $53,668 - $81,844, depending on experience and qualifications.
