Animal Care Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Animal Care Specialist to join our team at SkyLand Ranch. As a key member of our animal care team, you will be responsible for the overall care and well-being of all animals within the park.
Responsibilities
- Observe and record animal appearance and activity for general physical condition, obvious signs of illness, disease, and discontent.
- Recognize and report any unusual condition or abnormal behavior of any animal.
- Groom, bathe, and maintain animal cleanliness as applicable.
- In partnership with the attending veterinarian, determine the diet and water requirements for animals and maintain records of appetite.
- Monitor and record animal sleeping habits and any abnormalities that may occur.
- Administer medication as necessary to maintain animal health.
- Assist with confining and restraining animals for medical care.
- Take charge of handling animals as required and restrain any animal necessary to protect the animal and park guests.
- Thoroughly clean, disinfect, and sanitize animal enclosures, shelters, and general use areas.
- Attend to laundry needs of the animal care area.
Requirements
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and work in a physically demanding environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
