Key Responsibilities

As a FOIA - Subject Matter Expert (SME) at United Software Group, you will be responsible for receiving, reviewing, and analyzing new and backlogged Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests. This involves intake of incoming requests, preparation of FOIA request folders, and entry of request data in the FOIA tracking database.

Key Skills

We are seeking a highly skilled individual with demonstrated experience and knowledge of FOIA rules and regulations, specifically applying exemptions b(4), b(5), and b(6). The ideal candidate will have experience redacting records with trade secret and confidential commercial information.

Working Relationships

As a FOIA SME, you will communicate and initiate negotiations with requesters, FOIA staff, sponsors (or regulated industry representative), and contractors pertaining to records requested and associated information to be released. You will also serve as a liaison with requesters and other agencies and appellants regarding records that may involve more than one (1) agency component/office.

Additional Responsibilities

You will coordinate searches for responsive documents, identify duplicate records, review program records for responsiveness, and offer release determinations. Additionally, you will ensure released materials do not contain information exempted under the applicable exemptions.

Required Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have the ability to read, write, speak, and understand English, as well as the ability to work independently. Regulatory agency experience is preferred, and experience using Secure Release is a plus.
