Tutor and Academic Support Specialist

Academic assistance services are provided to students who require remedial support in various subjects. This role involves tutoring students individually or in small groups, focusing on specific areas of academic need.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of core curriculum concepts and the ability to develop effective lesson plans. They will work closely with school-day teachers and other program staff to ensure seamless integration of tutoring activities.
Key responsibilities include:
- Tutoring students in 1-on-1 and/or small groups
- Preparing lesson plans to address specific academic areas designated by Classroom Teacher, School Director, and Instructional Resource Teacher
- Assisting with integrating core-curriculum concepts into the tutoring component
- Managing groups of students to optimize time usage
- Consulting with Site Director on academic assistance strategies
- Communicating regularly with school-day teachers and ASES program staff
- Ensuring student safety and school accountability
- Maintaining accurate records and collecting data on students according to grant requirements
- Attending trainings on core-curriculum concepts and math/reading interventions
- Participating in staff meetings and professional development opportunities
In order to succeed in this role, candidates should possess excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. They must also be willing to create and follow through with an individualized professional development plan.
Educational background and experience required:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited University
Experience working with students in a school setting is highly desirable
Estimated Salary: $45,000 - $55,000 per year based on qualifications and location
