About the Position

This is a full-time nights position as part of our Lake City Care Center, supporting an Inpatient Unit. Our Hospice Aide/CNAs are the heart of our organization, providing personal care services to meet the needs of our patients.

Responsibilities
  • Perform personal care needs when given a patient's assignment and attend to their requests promptly.
  • Report to the Case Manager immediately if unable to perform a certain task.
  • Provide patient and family with positive communication techniques, within the realm of ethical and respectful care, including confidentiality.
  • Meet safety needs of patient and use equipment safely and properly.
  • Give personal care including baths, back rubs, oral hygiene, shampoos, and changing bed linen as often as assigned.
  • Assist in dressing and undressing patients as assigned.
  • Plan and prepare nutritious meals, including shopping, as assigned.
  • Assist in feeding the patient as assigned.
  • Take and record oral, rectal, and auxiliary temperatures, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure when ordered with appropriate completed/demonstrated skills competency and when on the plan of care.
  • Provide proper care and observation of patient's skin to prevent breakdown of tissue over bony prominence.
  • Report on patient's condition and significant changes to the Case Manager.
Requirements
  • Meets the training requirements of the State.
  • Completed a minimum of seventy-five hours of classroom and supervised practical training.
  • Minimum of six months experience including providing personal care.
  • At least eighteen years of age.
  • Ability to read and follow written instructions and document care given.
  • Understands hospice philosophy, comfortable providing specialized care to the terminally ill.
  • Satisfactory references from previous employers.
  • Ability to work with little direct supervision.
  • Secure with issues of death/dying.
  • Provides a calm manner when in a patient's home.
  • Possess and maintains current CPR certification.
  • Demonstrates tact, patience, and good personal hygiene.
  • Successfully completes a probationary period.
