About This Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Postdoctoral Fellow to join our research team at the University of Texas at Austin. As a top-10 engineering school, we pride ourselves on innovation and excellence in technology.

This temporary training position may be renewed annually for up to five years, based on performance review, progress towards research goals, and continuation of funding.

Job Responsibilities
  • Conduct state-of-the-art drilling research in hydraulics and multi-phase flow dynamics, managed pressure drilling, drill string dynamics, and geothermal well construction.
  • Work on proposals, R&D plans, schedules, and completion of reports on detailed phases of research projects.
  • Supervise undergraduate and graduate students and staff associated with R&D projects.
  • Write papers and present results at relevant professional meetings and conferences.
  • Provide input on research and development inquiries, insights, and direction for testing procedures and research.
Requirements

A Ph.D. degree in Mechanical or Petroleum Engineering received within three years of the start date is required. Experience in computational science and multi-physics modeling, including CFD and multibody dynamics, is also necessary.

Familiarity with drilling and well-completion technologies, understanding of drilling tools and practices, and experience with project supervision are preferred qualifications.

Working Conditions
  • The ideal candidate will work around chemical fumes, mechanical hazards, and standard office conditions.
Salary and Benefits

$65,000 per year, plus additional benefits including competitive health insurance, flexible spending accounts, retirement plan options, and more.
