Job Description

Job Summary:

As a Medical Assistant at Arlington Orthopedic Association, you will play a vital role in supporting our healthcare team. Your primary responsibility will be to assist physicians with patient care, clerical, environmental, and organizational tasks.

Responsibilities:

  • Escort patients to exam rooms and assist in determining medical problems.
  • Assist patients in navigating the clinic.
  • Prepare exam rooms and instruments for examination and aid physicians during treatment and exams.
  • Observe, record, and report patient conditions and reactions to drugs and treatments to physicians.
  • Check appointment schedules and assist the front desk coordinator with physician patient schedules.
  • Respond to and refer incoming phone calls.
  • Label and maintain proper storage for medical supplies in all exam rooms and central medical supply storage areas.
  • Schedule all surgical procedures with hospitals and/or Ambulatory Surgery Centers (ASC).
  • Issue out-patient materials and ensure that all surgical patients receive oral and/or written instructions regarding upcoming procedures and hospital policies and procedures.
  • Assist in maintaining and reviewing patient records and pertinent information.
  • Receive and handle all patient telephone calls to completion in a timely manner.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Current MA Certification.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum one year experience in the healthcare industry preferred but not required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask with phones, patients, and other responsibilities.
  • Excellent computer and typing skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and collaboration with the management team.
  • Demonstrated commitment to high professional ethical standards and a diverse workplace.
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced community environment.
