Broadcast Engineer Role Overview

The University of Florida is seeking a skilled Broadcast Engineer to join our Technology Advancement Group (TAG) in the Division of Media Properties. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for maintaining and upgrading our television and radio stations, ensuring seamless operations and compliance with FCC regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Installation and maintenance of cutting-edge RF systems and broadcast equipment at our transmitter sites and in Weimer Hall.
  • Essential support for IT-related hardware and software, ensuring efficient operations.
  • Compliance monitoring, including coordination with vendors to maintain broadcast systems and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Accurate records of all broadcast systems and assistance with budget planning.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to remote broadcast transmission sites.
  • Experience in the broadcast industry, with a strong understanding of IP-based equipment (video and audio).
  • Ability to troubleshoot hardware and software issues, with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and climb ladders and crawl on floors to access broadcast equipment and systems.

Working Hours:

Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with occasional emergency equipment failures requiring work outside of specified hours.
