Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Veterinary Care Specialist to join our team at one of our Vetco Total Care hospitals. As a key member of our veterinary team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care, working closely with our medical leaders and support staff, and contributing to the growth and success of our hospital.

Job Summary
  • Provide excellent patient care by performing physical examinations, diagnosing and treating diseases, and providing preventive care according to patient signalment, lifestyle, and environment.
  • Utilize a problem-based approach to develop treatment plans for patients undergoing day hospitalization and communicate effectively with referral hospitals to ensure continuity of patient care.
  • Perform routine and complex surgical procedures, including spays/neuters, abdominal exploratory, and mass removals.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of animal behavior, anatomy, and physiology to provide high-quality patient care.
Requirements
  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree or equivalent from an AVMA-accredited veterinary school.
  • Active licensure as a veterinarian without contingencies in the state where the hospital is located or ability to obtain by start date.
  • Current DEA license and Controlled Substance License (if applicable) in the state where the hospital is located or ability to obtain by start date.
  • USDA Category I accreditation or completion within two months of hire date.
  • Must be comfortable performing anesthesia and routine surgeries, including canine and feline spays, neuters, mass removals, and dentals.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, be compassionate and sympathetic, and maintain a professional attitude and demeanor during emotional and stressful situations.
