Overview

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Behavioral Health Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team at Amedisys Inc., a leading provider of home health, hospice, and high-acuity care. As a Behavioral Health RN in our home care setting, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of patients and their families by providing much-needed care where they want to be – in their homes.

Salary and Benefits

Our compensation package reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets and may vary depending on location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Our attractive pay range is $45-57 per unit/visit. This position is paid on a per-visit basis, and the compensation reflected on this posting is an estimate of the annual compensation.

Responsibilities

As a Behavioral Health RN, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Performing initial nursing evaluations, including behavioral health/psychiatric nursing needs
  • Observing and evaluating the physical and mental status of the patient for complications and medication side effects
  • Instructing patient/caregiver in cognitive and technical aspects of care, medication regimes, disease processes, safety interventions, ADL care, coping skills, symptom management, and other interventions
  • Administering IM medications, performing lab draws, and specimen collections
  • Acting as a case manager in coordinating care for patients as assigned
  • Completing documentation timely and accurately
  • Supervising Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) and Home Health Aides (HHAs)
  • Regularly communicating patient progress to the clinical manager, psychiatrist, and care team
Qualifications

To be eligible for this role, you must meet the following qualifications:

  • Current RN license, specific to the state(s) you are assigned to work
  • One of the following qualifications: An RN with a master's degree in a mental health nursing or psychiatric specialty; An RN with a bachelor's degree in nursing and one year of recent nursing experience in an acute treatment unit or other psychiatric setting; An RN with a diploma or associate's degree in nursing and two years of recent nursing experience in an acute treatment unit or other psychiatric setting
  • Current CPR certification
  • Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and liability insurance
Location and Salary

This role is based in various locations across the United States, and the salary range is $45-57 per unit/visit, paid on a per-visit basis. The estimated annual salary is approximately $75,000-$90,000, depending on the location and experience.
