Job Summary

The Lead Sterile Processing Department Technician is responsible for overseeing the Sterile Processing Department in conjunction with management. This includes maintaining records of all sterilizers, biological and chemical monitoring of steam, and steris sterilizers to ensure proper operation, sterility of instruments and supplies in accordance with regulatory recommendations.

The ideal candidate will have a national certification and experience in decontaminating and sterilizing instruments. They will also be responsible for coordinating decontamination process of instruments and equipment to ensure adequate availability for cases.

The Lead SPD Technician will work in conjunction with management on appropriate selection of new equipment, supplies, and instrumentation. They will also participate in a variety of unit based and hospital sponsored educational programs to maintain skills and competencies.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication and leadership skills, and be able to work effectively in a team environment.

Responsibilities
  • Decontaminates and sterilizes instruments
  • Coordinates decontamination process of instruments and equipment
  • Maintains records of all sterilizers, biological and chemical monitoring of steam, and steris sterilizers

Requirements
  • National certification in Sterile Processing
