Patient Care Specialist

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) plays a vital role in delivering high-quality patient-centered care in the Acute Care Setting. Working under the clinical direction of the registered nurse (RN), the PCT performs a variety of delegated patient care services that meet the needs of the Department.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the nursing staff in providing patient care, maintaining a clean, well-organized, and safe patient care environment, under the supervision of the Registered Nurse (RN).
- Deliver high-quality patient-centered care by performing basic patient care services related to common nursing functions and activities of daily living.
- Obtain and record patient information, including vital signs, height and weight, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, intake and output, calorie counts, and other patient information within their competency.
- Assist with patient activities of daily living, including meals, bathing, oral care, grooming, and elimination, as well as changing bed linens as needed.
- Assist with patient mobility, including positioning, repositioning, dangling, and ambulating patients, and assisting with the use of walkers, crutches, canes, and wheelchairs.
- Collect patient specimens and cross-train to unit clerk.
- Engage in evidence-based best practices that enhance the patient experience, including hourly/safety rounding and the use of AIDET.
- Comply with all hospital policies and procedures, as well as State Board of Nursing rules for unlicensed personnel.
