Medical Technologist Per Diem Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Medical Technologist to join our team on a per diem basis.

Key Responsibilities:

• Communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors to ensure seamless shift transitions and patient care continuity.
• Perform and document quality control measures, reporting significant deviations to supervisors and implementing corrective actions.
• Organize work to maximize productivity and efficiency, prioritizing tasks and managing time effectively.
• Determine specimen acceptability and priority, taking appropriate action to ensure timely testing and results.
• Maintain a minimum inventory of reagents and supplies to ensure adequate patient care and sufficient stock for the next shift.
• Recognize and address equipment failures promptly to minimize delays in patient testing.
• Document critical values and alert levels according to department policy.
• Adhere to laboratory policies regarding standard precautions, PPE, biohazardous waste disposal, and routine waste and sharps management.
• Consult supervisors or charge techs when faced with unusual situations, seeking guidance and support as needed.
• Provide assistance to colleagues and work alternative shifts or hours as requested or needed.
• Teach and train staff as assigned, performing charge tech duties in the absence of the manager.
• Address instrument flags before releasing patient results, monitoring delta checks and taking action accordingly.
• Review work lists throughout the shift, addressing pending items and ensuring timely completion of tasks.
• Clean and decontaminate workstations, disposing of specimens, reagents, and confidential information as necessary.
• Perform manual differentials in blood and body fluids, identify abnormal cells, and demonstrate knowledge of basic quality control troubleshooting.
• Rotate through each section of the Core Laboratory, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
• Show understanding of CAP regulations for each area of licensure.

Qualifications:

• Licensed by the State of Florida (or eligible) in Hematology, Chemistry, Serology, and Immunology – national certification preferred.
• Commensurate with licensure requirements.
• Completion of a training program in medical technology.
