Job Title: Lab Technician 2 or Laboratory Specialist

The Beirne B. Carter Immunology Research Center is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join their team as a Lab Technician 2 or Laboratory Specialist. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and collaborative environment, contributing to cutting-edge research in hematology, immune disorders, and cardiovascular disease.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical support to a basic science research laboratory, working closely with undergraduate students, research scientists, and technical staff.
  • Maintain a mouse colony, including genotyping, husbandry, and database management.
  • Inventory and maintain lab supplies, equipment, and common laboratory solutions.
  • Perform a variety of experimental procedures, including tissue harvesting and preparation, microscopy, PCR, Western blotting, and flow cytometry.
  • Work collaboratively as a team player, actively engaging in intellectual discussions and seeking creative solutions to experimental challenges.
Requirements:
  • Lab and Research Tech 2: Associate's degree and at least 2 years of lab experience, or Bachelor's degree in a related science.
  • Lab Specialist: Bachelor's degree and 3 years of experience, or 6 years of lab-related experience.
  • Lab Specialist Intermediate: Bachelor's degree and 6 years of experience, or Master's degree and 4 years of experience.
  • Lab Specialist Sr: Bachelor's degree and 9 years of experience, or Master's or Terminal degree and 4 years of experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in general biological procedures and techniques, animal procedures, and protocol and SOP development.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-based environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and communication skills, with general computer skills.
Physical Demands:

This position requires extensive periods of standing and squatting, as well as keyboarding and bench work, and may involve finer finger manipulation during animal procedures.
