Job Summary:
As a Respiratory Therapist, you will provide highly professional and technical cardiopulmonary care to assigned patients, ensuring the highest standards of care specific to the patient's age and needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide direct patient care services, serving patients and families with compassion and respect.
Conduct interpersonal relationships and duties in a manner that projects a positive image of the department and hospital.
Ensure superior customer service by maintaining effective communication with physicians and other customers.
Requirements:
Certificate of completion from an American Medical Association Accredited Respiratory Therapy Program, with CRT certification and licensure by the North Carolina Board of Respiratory Care.
RRT therapists must be RRT credentialed from the National Board for Respiratory Care and maintain the necessary requirements to retain the designation.
Preferred Qualifications:
One year of experience in a Respiratory Care hospital setting.
Licensure and Certification:
Must be licensed by the state of North Carolina as a Respiratory Care Practitioner, with RRT therapists credentialed by the National Board for Respiratory Care and required to maintain that status.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Good interpersonal and communication skills, with a demonstrated understanding of patient care needs according to the developmental stages for various age groups.
BCLS training required, with ACLS and NRP strongly encouraged.
Strong Customer Focus.
Work Environment:
Exposure to blood borne pathogens, infectious and contagious diseases, requiring the use of personal protective equipment.
Contact with cleaning agents, chemicals, and some toxic chemicals may also require the use of PPE.
Subject to stressful work periods and long irregular hours.
Physical Requirements:
Walking and standing throughout shift, with lifting patients daily with assistance.
Pushes and/or pulls or carries equipment throughout shift.
