Job Description

This position requires teaching undergraduates, and applicants must provide evidence of teaching potential. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating an optimum learning environment, responding to student needs, managing effective instructional activities, demonstrating professionalism, developing cooperative work relationships with other faculty and staff, supporting college administrative requirements, and maintaining competency in their instructional field.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach college-level & pre-college level Biology courses and Science related courses.
  • Understand process-based writing and familiarity with adult learning theory.
  • Familiarity with current pedagogical strategies that enhance critical thinking with students.
  • Ability to work with a diverse student population.
  • Effectively communicate with students on a regular basis and provide regular feedback on progress.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment and enhance instruction with the use of technology.

Requirements:

  • Thorough knowledge of the Standards of teaching Biology to an extent where the successful candidate would be comfortable in teaching courses from basic Biology to college level Biology.

  • Familiarity with appropriate instructional and course management software.
  • The ability to communicate effectively with both small and large groups.

Minimum Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Thorough knowledge of the principles of Biology to an extent where the successful candidate would be comfortable in teaching courses from basic Biology to college level Biology.
