About the Position

The Child Welfare Social Worker (Permanency & SWAN Services Supervisor) is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing designated Permanency Specialists and Independent Contractors for SWAN Units of Service. This position reports directly to the Manager of Family Support Services and collaborates closely with the management team and other Family Support Services staff to ensure effective family support and permanency planning.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise all Permanency Specialists, OCMI Workers, Family Recruiter, and Contracted Writers to ensure effective service delivery and team performance.
  • Assign all SWAN tasks, in consultation with the management team, to ensure proper allocation and completion of responsibilities.
  • Verify completion of required SWAN benchmarks for Child Preparation, Child Specific Recruitment, and Child Profiles to meet program standards.
  • Review, approve, and submit activities conducted by independent contractors to ensure quality and compliance with SWAN requirements.
  • Prepare and submit SWAN invoices, verifying certification by counties to ensure accurate financial documentation and reimbursement.
  • Provide bi-weekly supervision and complete the formal supervision form monthly for all direct reports to support staff development and performance.
  • Coordinate all activities related to SWAN meetings and conferences when appropriate to facilitate effective communication and planning.
  • Collaborate with HR Department and Manager of Family Support Services on all aspects of the hiring process, including screening resumes and interviewing candidates, to ensure a thorough and effective hiring process.
  • Train new staff on their assigned job responsibilities to ensure they are equipped with the knowledge and skills needed for their roles.
  • Assist and advise staff on case management to provide guidance and support in handling complex cases and ensuring best practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in social work or related Human Service Field required.
  • Minimum of one year working in child welfare.
  • Minimum of three years' experience in Human Services required. Experience working with diverse populations and/or people with disabilities preferred. Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with SWAN system and related adoption issues.
  • Adept at interacting with individuals who have challenging personalities.
  • Proficient in interacting with individuals with disabilities.
  • Strong verbal and communication skills.
  • Capable of handling and resolving conflicts.
  • Effective at managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Flexible and adaptable to schedule changes.
  • Able to fulfill the physical and mental demands of the job.
  • Clearances Required: Act 73 FBI, Act 34 Criminal Clearance, and Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance.

The Child Welfare Social Worker (Permanency & SWAN Services Supervisor) is part of our Family Support Services team. This team provides a wide array of family support services to help families and children grow stronger, from prevention and reunification services to care coordination services.
