Job Summary
A Cardiovascular Catheterization Specialist works in a Cardiac Cath lab and performs complex procedures, including stent implants, cardiac pacemakers, and defibrillators to diagnose heart disease. They take emergency calls and participate in saving lives during heart attacks. Cath Lab Technicians are vital team members who assist doctors during invasive cardiovascular procedures such as angioplasty, cardiac catheterization, and electrophysiology. They work in a hospital setting and require a high school education, some states also require a certificate program. Completion of an EKG course and ACLS certification are preferred but not always required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform complex procedures in a Cardiac Cath lab
- Assist doctors during invasive cardiovascular procedures
- Take emergency calls and participate in saving lives during heart attacks
- Work in a hospital setting
Requirements:
- High school education
- Completion of EKG course
- ACLS certification preferred
