Job Summary

As a skilled MRI Technologist, you will be responsible for performing Magnetic Resonance Imaging examinations, providing assistance to physicians during exams, and recognizing and reporting patient emergency situations and/or MRI specific adverse events.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform specialized MRI studies, position patients, and provide immobilization means and patient counseling.
  • Instruct patients of exam requirements, select appropriate protocols, and tailor scans to produce superior image quality.
  • Maintain daily records of exams performed, receive and double identify patients, and ensure accuracy of information and data entry.
  • Post-process digital images, prepare images for Radiologist interpretation, and transmit images to the Diagnostic Imaging PACS system.
  • Assure correct patient identification information is captured on all recorded images, capture required documentation in Radiology Information System (RIS), and prepare, load, program, and operate the contrast injector.
  • Assist with screening patients for contraindications, verify preparation procedures, oversee intravenous (IV) management, and prevent accidents for patients and visitors by identifying extreme safety hazards involved with MRI.
  • Screen patients with MRI screening questionnaire for contraindications prior to performing procedure, interpret unusual tissue contract patterns, and alter or add protocols as necessary to enhance diagnosis.
  • Function as part of resuscitation team during Code Blue and/or Rapid Response Team situations, provide assistance to physicians during exams, and report patient emergency situations.
  • Identify potential equipment crisis by troubleshooting, including monitoring coil functionality (transmit and receive), cryogen levels, system temperatures, and RF signal interference, etc.
  • Document any errors or equipment malfunctions in service log when Chief Technologist is not available, assume responsibilities for the needs of patients during procedure, and provide service-oriented communications with patients.
  • Emphasize a personalized, individualized, compassionate patient care atmosphere at all times, dismiss patients for transport, and/or assist with patient transport at end of procedure.
  • Review orders, prepare schedules, and consult with attending Radiologists and Registered Nurses as necessary, maintain all materials needed and linen supply on daily basis, and maintain general order and cleanliness of room assigned.
  • Directly supervise student technologists during their clinical assignments, communicate with referring physician, and educate as necessary during site tours, trains others under direct supervision of Chief MRI Technologist.
Requirements
  • Minimum two (2) years experience as registered technologist.
  • Minimum one (1) year MRI experience as registered technologist.
  • Associates degree in radiologic technology or two (2) years of experience in a directly related area.
  • Basic Life Support OR CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certificate - Magnetic Resonance Imaging.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum one (1) year Computed Tomography (CT) experience as registered technologist, including experience or successful completion of training program (pre-hire, post-hire, or on-the-job) in area of specialty, if applicable.
  • MRI Certification from an accredited MRI program of technology.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of statistical data analysis techniques, industrial occupational operations, and Kaiser systems/organization.
