Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Medical Support Assistant to join our team at the Dayton, Ohio VA Medical Center. As a Medical Support Assistant, you will play a critical role in providing administrative support to our inpatient units, serving as the administrative point of contact and administrative support person.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide exceptional customer service to Veterans, staff, and other agencies, responding to inquiries and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Utilize knowledge of ED procedures and processes to accurately enter visits in VISTA, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Manage administrative supplies, inventory, and ordering, ensuring a smooth and efficient daily operation.
  • Serve as a point of contact for patients, staff, and agencies, providing clear and understandable information and resolving issues in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with clinical staff to provide administrative support, including scheduling medical appointments and coordinating patient care.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of patient care plans and management strategies.
Requirements
  • 6 months of experience in clerical, office, customer service, or other administrative work, demonstrating the ability to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills.
  • Ability to operate computerized programs and systems, including electronic health records and scheduling systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of medical terminology and the ability to communicate effectively with clinical staff and patients.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple responsibilities.
