Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Assistant Director, Undergraduate Admissions to join our team at Saint Leo University. The successful candidate will be responsible for recruiting first-time in college and transfer students from North and Central Florida counties or target population. This includes developing strategic plans to reach enrollment goals, visiting high schools and/or community colleges, attending college fairs and other recruitment events, and developing a network of professional contacts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and assigned recruitment territory to yield a specific enrollment goal and develop a strategic plan to meet enrollment objectives for the assigned territory or student market.
  • In consultation with the Director of Strategic Recruitment and Outreach, determine appropriate activities, goals, and benchmarks to achieve enrollment goals with extensive travel required.
  • Develop a strategic plan for achieving a level of applications and enrolled students needed to meet goals.
  • Determine appropriate recruitment activities (including special events) to reach goals; develop and evaluate travel plans and related recruitment activities and represent Saint Leo University at college fairs, high school visits, and other off-campus events; make presentations to high school audiences, community college students, and other groups.
  • Plan and implement special events relating to the specified territory or student population, including budget oversight and planning for such events.
  • Develop professional working relationships with guidance and counseling professionals at high schools and in independent practice, or with community college staff members at feeder institutions.
  • Provide evaluation of recruitment efforts.
  • Encourage, review, and follow up on admission applications from students from an assigned territory by:
  • Identifying appropriate applicants for admission
  • Contacting prospective students (in person, by phone, via e-mail, letter, or IM) to encourage the submission of an application.
  • Following up with students to obtain materials necessary for file review on a daily basis. Reviewing completed applications and make admission decisions within established guidelines.
  • Communicating with admitted students regularly to follow up on concerns and encourage enrollment.
  • Interview students, both on campus and away from campus, to obtain information and determine suitability for admission to Saint Leo University.
  • Conduct campus tours as necessary.
  • Meet with students and family members.
  • Participate in on-campus and off-campus events (Open House programs, Alumni receptions, overnight visits, etc.).
  • Provide assistance in training and supervising new or junior counseling staff members.
  • Serve as a mentor or trainer for new staff during their first year.
  • Assist in developing a training schedule and providing training as requested.
  • Keep up-to-date on changes in majors, programs, and student organizations on campus.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university required; master's degree preferred.
  • Previous experience in admissions or recruitment preferred.
  • Any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Computer skills, particularly MS Office software applications and e-mail proficiency.
