Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to serve as the Director of the Resource Center for Persons with Disabilities (RCPD) at Michigan State University. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the RCPD team in promoting disability access and inclusion, and for developing and implementing strategies to support students, faculty, and staff with disabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the RCPD team in promoting disability access and inclusion, and in developing and implementing strategies to support students, faculty, and staff with disabilities.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal and state laws related to disability access and inclusion.
  • Collaborate with university partners to promote disability access and inclusion, and to develop and implement strategies to support students, faculty, and staff with disabilities.
  • Provide guidance and support to students, faculty, and staff with disabilities, and to their families and caregivers.
  • Develop and implement programs and services to support students, faculty, and staff with disabilities, including academic support, career development, and mental health services.
  • Manage the RCPD budget and staff, and ensure that the center is operating efficiently and effectively.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external partners and stakeholders to promote disability access and inclusion, and to support the RCPD mission.
Requirements

A master's degree and seven to ten years of relevant progressive experience in promoting disability access or in a student affairs or student services office with a specific emphasis on disability support services are required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. An advanced degree and experience in a higher education setting are strongly preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience and knowledge of critical issues related to disability access and support resources; experience leading a large and diverse professional staff team, including hiring, supervision, and professional development; proven ability in leading organizational transformation, with the capacity to effect change in institutional culture and operations; and strong communication, organizational, fiscal, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with key campus and community partners.
