Histotechnologist I

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Histotechnologist I to join our team at Quest Diagnostics Incorporated. As a Histotechnologist I, you will be responsible for preparing slides for microscopic evaluation by pathologists, ensuring proper accessioning and labeling of tissue samples, and performing various laboratory tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare slides for microscopic evaluation by pathologists, following established policies and procedures.
• Ensure proper accessioning and labeling of all tissue samples, including processing paperwork associated with accessioning and reporting.
• Perform routine and non-routine activities involved in tissue processing, embedding, and microtomy.
• Prepare solutions and reagents for special stain procedures, including Hematoxylin and Eosin staining.
• Perform cover slipping of stained slides, either manually or automated.
• May prepare solutions and reagents for IHC procedures, obtain and validate control material, and perform IHC testing.
• Perform filing of finished blocks and slides, and maintain equipment and troubleshoot minor failures.
• Adhere to laboratory's quality control policies and document all quality control activities.

Requirements:

• AA or AS degree or equivalent training and experience.
• 1-3 years experience as a Histotechnician.
• Special Requirements: HT (ASCP) or HTL (ASCP) certification.
