About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Generalist Caseworker to join our team at the Oregon Department of Human Services. As a Generalist Caseworker, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of Oregon's most vulnerable children and families.

Your primary responsibilities will include conducting child safety assessments, engaging with children, families, and caregivers, and identifying and seeking relative caregivers, foster parents, and adoptive parents. You will also have the opportunity to work with a diverse range of people, including those who have experienced trauma.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform the work of a Child Protective Services (CPS) Worker and Permanency Worker.
  • Conduct child safety assessments to determine if a child has been or is at risk of being harmed.
  • Engage with children, families, resource parents, and caregivers to achieve safety, permanency, and well-being.
  • Identify and seek relative caregivers, foster parents, and adoptive parents.
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need a bachelor's degree in Human Services or a related field, or a bachelor's degree in an unrelated field with relevant experience or training. You will also need to possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work well under pressure and make quick decisions in stressful situations.
