Job Title: OST Counselor

Department: Parks and Recreation

Hourly Rate: $16.00 per hour

Part Time

Shifts: 1:45 pm - 6:15 pm, 2:15 pm - 6:15 pm

Job Summary:

The OST Counselor is a vital member of the Parks and Recreation team, responsible for implementing recreational activities and providing supervision for participants. This role requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and promote programs for all ages
  • Recruit community members to participate in new and ongoing programs
  • Respond to inquiries and complaints, and refer to the appropriate person when necessary
  • Manage administrative tasks, including light janitorial duties and facility setup
  • Enforce program rules and supervise program areas
  • Provide excellent customer service and respond to requests for information
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • One year of training and/or education in school-age care, child development, or a related field
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to work with computers and related software applications
  • Valid State of Georgia driver's license (Non-commercial Class A or B) with a satisfactory motor vehicle record (MVR)
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check, work reference check, pre-employment post-offer physical, and drug screen
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit, walk, and stand for long periods
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 lbs)
  • Ability to sit for long periods using office equipment and computers
  • Ability to walk and stand outdoors in extreme weather conditions
  • Ability to operate computer software, including word processing software, calculator, copy and fax machine, phone, mobile or portable radio
