We are seeking a highly motivated Pharmacist Intern to join our team at Optum, a leading health services and innovation company. Our company is dedicated to helping make the health system work better for everyone.

As a Pharmacist Intern, you will have the opportunity to work with a talented team of professionals on challenging assignments that matter. You will be part of a collaborative effort to serve behavioral health and addiction treatment communities through Genoa Healthcare, a pharmacy care services company part of Optum and UnitedHealth Group's family of businesses.

About the Role

The primary responsibilities of this role include distributing medications prescribed by physicians and other health practitioners, providing information to customers about medications and their use, performing clerical duties such as filing patient records and processing insurance claims, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws of the applicable State Board of Pharmacy, administration of immunizations as allowed by state boards of pharmacy, and any other usual and customary pharmacy duties.

You will consistently exhibit behavior and communication skills that demonstrate our commitment to superior customer service, including quality care and concern with internal and external customers. Additionally, you will adhere to having a safe and secure workspace and communicate with your leadership when that safety (equipment, system, information) is compromised.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must currently be enrolled in a Doctor of Pharmacy program, with the first professional year (P1) completed before the start of the internship. Active licensure as a pharmacist intern in the state of Massachusetts is also required. In addition, you must be eligible to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship, now or in the future, for employment-based work authorization (F-1 students with practical training and candidates requiring H-1Bs, TNs, etc. will not be considered).

Preferred Qualifications
  • 3.5 or higher cumulative GPA
  • Completion of at least one Therapeutics Course
  • Knowledge of medical and pharmacy terminology
  • Proven adequate mathematical, analytical, and critical thinking skills
  • Proven solid oral and written communication skills
