Job Summary:

The Telemetry Secretary Technician provides critical support to the department's operations, performing duties of a Telemetry Tech, Nurse Tech, and Unit Secretary as needed. This role requires continuous EKG monitoring and interpretation of rhythms, including lethal arrhythmias, and notifying appropriate staff of arrhythmias. The successful candidate will oversee the care, maintenance, and tracking of telemetry equipment and servicing, reporting problems to the Unit Manager. Additionally, they will provide safe, efficient, and therapeutic patient care services under the supervision of the licensed nurse. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in nursing or patient care, with experience in administrative and unit secretarial duties. They will also possess knowledge of medical terminology and be certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Rhythm Recognition Course. A successful completion of the CMH Telemetry Technician competency within three months of hire is also required.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform EKG monitoring and interpretation of rhythms, including lethal arrhythmias
  • Notify appropriate staff of arrhythmias
  • Oversee the care, maintenance, and tracking of telemetry equipment and servicing
  • Provide safe, efficient, and therapeutic patient care services under the supervision of the licensed nurse
  • Assist with unit staffing, recording information in the medical records, and ensuring that the unit's reporting and documentation of information be completed in a professional and timely manner

Qualifications:

  • High school Diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • One (1) year experience performing Nursing/Patient Care Assistant duties in an acute care setting or skilled nursing facility
  • One (1) year experience performing Administrative/Unit Secretarial duties in an acute care setting or skilled nursing facility
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
  • Rhythm Recognition Course Certificate
  • Successful completion of the CMH Telemetry Technician competency within three (3) months of hire
  • Knowledge of medical terminology

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification
