Job Description

At Holland America Group, we're seeking an exceptional Ecommerce Product Engineering Lead to join our team. As a key member of our digital product engineering team, you'll be responsible for leading the development, testing, and deployment of our digital platform. Your expertise will drive innovation and technical strategy for our guest-facing web applications, ensuring a seamless and engaging experience for our customers.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee the development, testing, and deployment of high-quality software solutions, adhering to best practices and standards.
  • Use engineering principles to conduct technical investigations and modify material, component, or process specifications and requirements.
  • Lead all aspects of ecommerce web product engineering, including vacation smart search, cruise online reservations, amend reservations, pre-cruise purchases, and CMS modules to drive innovation and increase direct and onboard revenue.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and partners to ensure technology alignment, product success, and predictable delivery.
  • Work with the downstream operations team to drive operational excellence for our ecommerce websites, ensuring availability, performance, and compliance of customer-facing web sites.
  • Develop team target metrics and track the performance of scrum teams, implementing performance improvement strategies when necessary.
  • Oversee quality control and lifecycle management processes, ensuring their continual improvement.
  • Manage software development processes across multiple application development disciplines for software technology product lines.
  • Develop risk identification and mitigation strategies associated with the architecture and coding process.
  • Foster a culture of creativity, collaboration, inclusion, innovation, and excellence while continuously elevating the quality and caliber of our product development organization.
  • Establish and ensure best practices for the software development lifecycle, including solution engineering, build, and test, inclusive of test automation.
  • Manage vendor relationships for sourcing web engineering talent, managed services, and strategic partners.
  • Directly influence technical timelines for delivery of revenue-generating features and products online for ticket and onboard revenue.
  • Drive a reduction in service call volume through self-service capabilities.
  • Directly oversee web operations to proactively improve online customer experience.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Math.
  • 10 years of delivering technology products.
  • 5+ years of leading engineering solutions end-to-end.
  • 8+ years of delivering large-scale consumer-facing system solutions.
  • 3+ years of experience in Adobe Experience Manager, SAP Hybris, MongoDB, and Algolia.
  • 5-8 years of experience in web technologies like JavaScript, Ajax, Bootstrap, React, Java, Spring Boot, and GraphQL.
  • Proven ability to build productive collaborative relationships, motivate team members, and instill a positive can-do attitude.
  • Must have strong experience leading engineering/technology professionals.
  • Strong understanding of web UI technologies and frameworks like React and Angular.
  • Proven experience in product testing and driving results through iterative testing.
  • Strong experience and understanding of serverless architecture.
  • Strong experience with React.
  • Strong experience and understanding of event-driven architecture.
  • Experience in the planning, analysis, and design of software application strategies.
  • Extensive knowledge of the system development life cycle, customer area functions, and systems, and application program development alternatives.
  • Should have a deep understanding of many software development methodologies.
  • Deep understanding and application of WCAG, PCI, PII, encryption requirements.
  • Requires excellent communication skills, analytical ability, solid judgment, and management skills, and the ability to work effectively with clients and other IT professionals.
  • Subject matter experience in Adobe Experience Manager required.
  • Microservices and SPA experience preferred.
