Safety Manager Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Safety Manager to join our team at Adolfson & Peterson Construction. This is a key role that will play a critical part in ensuring the safety of our employees, clients, and the communities we serve.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in safety management, with a proven track record of implementing and maintaining effective safety programs. They will be responsible for managing our safety program, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations, and providing training and guidance to our employees.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Managing the safety program on assigned projects in accordance with organizational requirements and best practices.
  • Ensuring compliance with policies and practices that result in employee behavior that reinforces our commitment to incident prevention.
  • Conducting safety training programs in accordance with all organizational standards, practices, and policies.
  • Managing task-based training for all workers on our job sites.
  • Providing safety and health training to all AP management and supervisory personnel.
  • Distributing new and changing safety-related information and providing training when necessary.
  • Presenting the safety orientation program to new employees.
  • Assisting with furthering the safety education of all team members.
  • Monitoring the safety program on assigned projects and communicating findings to senior management and team members.
  • Keeping regional leaders informed on the safety processes for projects.
  • Performing internal safety audits and inspections on projects on a random basis.
  • Instructing and training field workers in the recognition and avoidance of unsafe practices and conditions to eliminate hazards.
  • Working with state and federal agencies on inspections and issues identified, to minimize the future impact on AP.
  • Establishing and maintaining relationships with federal and/or state OSHA programs.
  • Assistance in managing the worker's compensation program for the region.
  • Participating in quarterly claims reviews.
  • Helping investigate accidents.
  • Monitoring the return-to-work process for injured employees to minimize the impact of an injured worker returning to a jobsite.
  • Identifying light duty and other work that injured workers can perform.
  • Collaborating with and assisting all project team members to sustain the incident prevention philosophy.
  • Editing and keeping the SDS reference books and Superintendent's Health and Safety Manuals current.
  • Anticipating project safety needs and assisting the Superintendent/Project Manager with required safety training.
  • Monitoring site safety communication to maintain training effectiveness.
  • Assuring that adequate, properly trained personnel are available to carry out the required functions safely on a project.
