Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Vehicle Maintenance Specialist to join our team at the Disabilities Board of Charleston County. This role involves maintaining our fleet of vehicles, responding to roadside emergencies, and ensuring the safety of consumers and agency personnel.

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance and Repair: Perform vehicle repairs in accordance with established procedures and best practices on all systems of vehicles owned and/or operated by the Disabilities Board of Charleston County.

Preventative Maintenance: Complete regularly scheduled oil changes, brake inspections/service, vehicle tune-ups, tire service, and fluid changes according to established guidelines.

Roadside Assistance: Provide prompt response to roadside emergency situations, including vehicle breakdowns and vehicular incidents and accidents, to ensure the safety of agency consumers and personnel.

Vehicle Inspections: Conduct routine inspections of agency vehicles to identify mechanical problems or issues that may impact consumer and personnel safety.

Diagnostics: Utilize diagnostic equipment and perform diagnostic functions to accurately troubleshoot mechanical problems as reported by agency personnel or identified through inspection.

Documentation: Complete required documentation of repairs made on agency vehicles and purchases made in the performance of duties in accordance with agency policy.

Training: Provide routine and specialized training for agency personnel in the safe operation of agency vehicles and use of vehicle equipment.

Work Environment: Maintain a clean and hazard-free work environment that complies with applicable state and federal regulations.

Requirements

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience: 2+ years of experience in vehicle maintenance and repair.

Certifications: Valid driver's license and any other certifications required by the Disabilities Board of Charleston County.

Skills: Strong mechanical aptitude, excellent communication skills, and ability to work independently.

Salary and Benefits

The estimated salary for this position is $45,000 - $60,000 per year, depending on experience. Benefits include health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
